2026 – Dave Martinson

SYTA Youth Foundation Presents the 2026 Youth First Award to Dave Martinson
This year’s recipient, Dave Martinson, is a longtime supporter deeply committed to the Foundation’s work. He consistently donates his services and provides auction packages that help the Foundation fundraise in meaningful ways — all while generously giving of his own personal treasures. His involvement goes far beyond financial contributions; he brings a genuine passion for the Foundation’s mission and is always looking for new, meaningful ways to give back.
Martinson is a strong advocate for the idea that travel is one of the most powerful forms of education. He actively works to ensure students, families, and educators can fully experience and understand that value, helping preserve authentic travel experiences in meaningful ways. An advocate, leader, and storyteller, he’s rarely seen without a camera around his neck, capturing the moments that make student travel unforgettable.
2025 – Cindy Brown

SYTA Youth Foundation Presents the 2025 Youth First Award to Cindy Brown
Cindy Brown has given so much, through the SYTA Youth Foundation (SYF), the travel industry, and her own community, that it is nearly impossible to capture it all. Serving others isn’t something she fits into her schedule. It’s part of who she is.
Outside of SYF, Cindy is a powerhouse of community involvement. She has served on countless nonprofit boards, led local cleanups, championed youth mentorship programs, and donated not only her resources but her time, week after week, year after year. She shows up again and again, and she inspires others to do the same.
Cindy’s contributions to tourism and education are equally profound. She’s been a passionate advocate for travel as a learning tool, believing that educational travel changes lives and opens doors for students of all backgrounds. Whether it’s through local initiatives or national platforms, she has elevated the value of our industry and reminded us all why we do what we do.
And of course, there is her work with SYF. As one of the Foundation’s original driving forces, Cindy has been a guiding light for 25 years. She has shaped the Foundation’s direction, culture, and impact. From helping to launch signature programs, to being there for every fundraiser, every board call, and every student story, her fingerprints are on every part of this organization.
Cindy Brown is not only a visionary leader and entrepreneur, but a true force for good. Her generosity, passion, and commitment to service embody the spirit of the Youth First Award, and her deep belief in the power of educational travel has shaped the very heart of SYF and SYTA.
